Downtown San Diego’s Bucket List Experiences

There’s also so much do to in Downtown San Diego.

Downtown San Diego has endless opportunities. From near perfect weather, well-crafted food and drinks, and scenic views, we’ve got it all. Whether you’re a tourist or a local resident, there are plenty of bucket-list items that are worth checking off the list. From delicious eats to beautiful views, there is something for everyone to enjoy while getting the full Downtown experience.

We’re put together THE dream list of places to go, things to eat, and sights to see whether you’re just in town for a couple days or looking for something to do with your weekend.

Order a California Burrito

French fries with your burrito? Nope. French fries IN your burrito. This is a native San Diego feast-treat, and a rite of passage. Just head to Lucha Libre, order the California, say yes to hot sauce and sit back, you’re in for a culinary rollercoaster of emotion. While enjoying the delicious ride, take a moment to enjoy the festive wrestling décor that is an iconic part of the restaurant’s popularity. You won’t regret the fun atmosphere while enjoying some delicious food.

Take a Brew Tour

San Diego has been called the “Craft Beer Capital of America” for good reason. With more than 100 breweries countywide and nine Downtown, spend a day hopping from brewery to brewery. Some 92101 favorites include Resident’s Coconut IPA, Ballast’s Pineapple Sculpin, and Ten Barrel’s Cucumber Crush. While you’re sipping on your crafted beverage, enjoy some tasty bites from the menus as well. From Ballast Point’s juicy burgers to Ten Barrel’s delightful pizzas, there is something for everyone.

Drink More Coffee

Beer isn’t the only thing hand crafted in Downtown San Diego. Craft coffee is all the rage right now, and for good reason. With less calories and more caffeine, it’s a tasty alternative to the traditional happy hour drink. Stop in at Copa Vida in East Village for their cold brew on tap or Achille’s in Cortez for their sweet and spicy Chai Latte. Each spot has a unique vibe that anyone can appreciate, no matter your beverage of choice.

Beers on wheels

Brew tours are happening all the time!

Whether you're looking for something to do after work or on the weekend, brew tours are one of San Diego's most popular past times.

Go For a Run Along the Harbor

Getting your exercise in doesn’t have to be a chore. Burn some calories and get some fresh air while jogging along the harbor. From Seaport Village to Harbor Island, there isn’t a bad view along the waterfront. Jog up the Convention Center stairs for an added challenge – but a rewarding view of the Downtown skyline and San Diego Bay.

Co-Work With the Community

Working from home is so 2016. Between Downtown Works in the Columbia neighborhood and Union Cowork in East Village, there are plenty of places to get your work done in a stylish environment with good company. Bring your carefully crafted coffee or a bite to eat from Lucha Libre and you are all set for a productive work session away from home or the office.

Climb the California Tower

High above Balboa Park, the California Tower provides panoramic views of Downtown San Diego, the Coronado Bridge, and Point Loma. The tower has been off-limits to the public since 1935, but that all changed in 2015 to commemorate the park’s centennial. Make sure to book a reservation in advance.
